Privacy Policy for Bluetooth Mouse and Keyboard
Last updated: 28 September 2026

This Privacy Policy applies specifically to the Android app Bluetooth Mouse and Keyboard, published by downing app (package: com.bluetoothmouseandkeyboard.wirelessmouse.wifimouse.remotemouse.bluetoothmouse.downingapp). It explains what information the app accesses, how it is used and shared, and the choices available to you. It does not describe every app published by downing app.
The app lets you use your phone as a Bluetooth mouse, keyboard, game controller, presentation remote and media remote for a compatible paired device. You do not need to create an account to use these features.
1. Bluetooth discovery and Location permission
Android 11 and earlier: The app requests foreground Location permission to discover nearby Bluetooth computers and other compatible devices. Android requires this permission because Bluetooth scan results can potentially reveal location. The app accesses nearby device names and Bluetooth addresses to display available devices, pair with the device you select, and establish a connection.
The Bluetooth feature does not request GPS coordinates, derive your physical location from scan results, or upload Bluetooth discovery results to our servers or advertising providers. Scanning stops when the device discovery screen is no longer visible. The updated app does not request background Location permission or track your physical movements in the background.
Before requesting Location permission, the app displays an explanation and asks you to choose Agree and continue or Not now. Declining does not grant permission. Discovery is unavailable until the required permission is granted. You can later revoke permission in Android Settings.
Android 12 and later: The app uses Nearby devices permissions, including Bluetooth Scan, Connect and Advertise, to discover, pair and communicate with compatible devices. It does not request Android Location permission for Bluetooth discovery on these versions and does not use Bluetooth scan results to determine your physical location.
These statements concern Bluetooth discovery. Advertising services may separately estimate approximate location from your IP address, as explained below. Denying Android Location permission does not prevent IP-based approximate location processing by online services.
2. Remote-control input and locally stored information
The app processes mouse movement, clicks, keyboard text, shortcuts, game-controller actions, presentation commands and media commands that you enter in the app. It sends the corresponding control reports over Bluetooth to the paired device you choose so that the remote-control feature can work. That device and its applications process the input according to their own settings and privacy practices.
The remote-control feature is not designed to collect typing from other apps or send your keyboard text and control input to our advertising or analytics services. Text or commands you intentionally save as macros are stored in app preferences on your phone until you edit them or clear app data.
The app also stores preferences such as language, control settings, onboarding choices and the last connected Bluetooth device address to support reconnecting. Android separately maintains Bluetooth pairing records. Where Android backup is enabled, app preferences may be included in operating-system backups according to your device and Google account settings.
Features such as air-mouse control process motion-sensor readings to translate phone movement into control actions. These readings are used for the control feature and are not intentionally uploaded by that feature.
3. Advertising, analytics and online services
The app is supported by advertising and integrates Google Mobile Ads (AdMob), Meta Audience Network, and Firebase services. The advertising provider used can depend on the app configuration. Online services process information separately from the Bluetooth control feature.
Advertising: Google Mobile Ads automatically processes information such as IP address, advertising or app-related identifiers, app/ad interactions and diagnostic information. IP addresses can be used to estimate approximate location. These data support ad delivery, measurement, analytics and fraud prevention. Meta Audience Network, when used, may similarly process device and advertising identifiers, network/IP information and ad interaction data under its privacy policy. Ad personalization depends on applicable consent, provider configuration and device settings. Non-personalized ads can still involve technical data processing.
Analytics: Google Analytics for Firebase processes app-instance identifiers, app interaction events and technical information, such as device model, operating-system version, app version and language, to help us understand usage and improve the app. Geographic reporting may include an approximate region inferred from network information; this is separate from Bluetooth discovery permission.
Configuration and messaging: Firebase Remote Config and Firebase Cloud Messaging can process installation identifiers, registration tokens and technical connection information to obtain app configuration and support message delivery. Notification display depends on device permissions and settings.
Network requests: When the app retrieves configuration, ads or web content, the receiving service necessarily receives connection information such as an IP address. Hosting providers, including the service hosting our remote configuration, may record technical request logs for delivery, security and troubleshooting.
If you contact us, we receive your email address, message and any information you voluntarily provide. We use it to respond, troubleshoot and handle privacy requests. Please do not send passwords or unnecessary sensitive information.
4. Permissions and device controls
Nearby devices / Bluetooth: Used to discover, pair, reconnect and send remote-control commands to compatible devices.
Location, on Android 11 and earlier only: Used for foreground Bluetooth discovery as described in Section 1.
Notifications: Used to display app notifications when permitted. You can disable them in Android Settings.
Internet and network state: Used for ads, configuration, analytics and loading online content, including privacy information. Bluetooth HID control itself communicates with the paired device over Bluetooth.
Vibration and wake/screen controls: Used for interaction feedback and to keep controls usable according to app settings.
The remote-control feature does not require your contacts, call history, SMS messages, microphone recordings or photo library. The current Bluetooth control implementation does not capture camera images.
5. How information is used and shared
We use information to provide remote-control functions, remember preferences, maintain connections, deliver and measure advertising, understand app performance, configure the app, respond to support requests and prevent misuse.
Information is shared with the receiving device when you intentionally send control input; with advertising, analytics, configuration, messaging and hosting providers as described above; and with authorities or other parties where necessary to comply with a valid legal obligation or protect rights and security. If ownership of the app changes, information held for its operation may transfer with appropriate notice and applicable protections.
We do not operate a business selling your Bluetooth scan results or remote-control text. Advertising-related data processing is described above rather than treated as an absence of collection. We do not intentionally provide Bluetooth device addresses, saved macro text or control input to advertising providers.
6. Data retention and deletion
Local preferences, saved macros and the remembered host address remain in app storage until changed, cleared or removed. You can remove this local information using Android Settings > Apps > Bluetooth Mouse and Keyboard > Storage > Clear storage, or by uninstalling the app. Menu names vary by device. Clearing app storage does not remove Android Bluetooth pairing records; remove those through Bluetooth settings. Operating-system backups may retain or restore preferences, so manage backups separately in your device/account settings.
Advertising and Firebase information is retained according to the relevant service, its configured retention settings and the provider policies linked below. Uninstalling the app does not automatically erase information already processed by these providers. We do not claim a single retention period for all providers.
Support correspondence is retained for as long as needed to handle your request, resolve related issues and meet applicable obligations. Contact downingapps@gmail.com to request deletion of information we hold about you. We may need limited information to identify the relevant records and verify the request. We will explain if we cannot identify a record, do not control it, or must retain it for a lawful reason. The app has no user-account creation feature, so there is no app account to delete.
7. Your choices and privacy requests
You can grant or revoke app permissions in Android Settings, disable notifications, clear app data, unpair connected devices, and use the Android advertising controls available on your device to reset or delete your advertising ID. These controls do not necessarily stop all technical data processing by providers.
Where an advertising consent form is presented, you can make the choices it offers. For help changing a choice or exercising a privacy right, contact downingapps@gmail.com. Merely reading this policy or using the app does not replace an affirmative consent action where consent is required.
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of personal information, object to or restrict processing, withdraw consent, or complain to a relevant supervisory authority. We assess requests under the law that applies and the information we can reasonably identify. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing lawfully carried out before withdrawal.
8. Security and international processing
Bluetooth communication uses the connection and pairing mechanisms provided by Android and the receiving device. Only pair with devices you trust. Google advertising and Firebase services use protected network connections for their services. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.
Providers may process information in countries other than your own. Their privacy notices and applicable terms describe their processing locations and safeguards. We limit use of information under our control to the purposes described in this policy.
9. Children and family use
We do not knowingly request personal information directly from children through account registration, and this app does not provide account registration. Advertising and analytics services may still process device-related information as described above. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact downingapps@gmail.com so we can investigate and address it. Parents and guardians should manage device permissions and supervise use as appropriate.
10. Third-party websites and privacy information
Advertisements, help pages and other links may open websites or apps operated by third parties. Those services have their own privacy practices. This policy describes our app, not the independent operation of an advertiser website, a paired computer or the Blogger platform hosting this page.
The following provider notices explain their practices in more detail:
- Google Privacy Policy
- Google advertising: data disclosures
- Firebase Privacy and Security
- Meta Privacy Policy
- GitLab Privacy Statement
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when app features, data practices or applicable requirements change. We will update the date at the top of the policy and provide additional notice or obtain consent where required. The Location permission description above applies to the updated app implementation; users should install the latest available release.
